Havasui Pai

My mom got us this amazing trip for our birthdays. It is an Indian Reservation at the bottom of the Grand Canyon (North Rim). We drove straight there (around 13 hours) and got there at 3 am, and started our hike in!...

Ok, so because I'm a dork and posted these pictures funky, let's see how well you can follow directions! The pictures (and sequintial stories) start from the bottom up, in groups of 5 pictures. Just follow the numbers on the sides, and you'll get there in the order I had planned(Number 1 is 5th from the bottom)!

10. The last falls we saw, Navaho Falls, was my favorite to look at. It was so green with ferns and there was a lot of caves with more waterfalls in it. Trevor and Billy went exploring and Trev fell about 15 feet and landed on his hands and knees so we went back to camp early. 11. And it was a good thing we did. A native came to our tent saying we had an hour to get us and our stuff to higher ground because there was a flashflood coming. We got there safely and were able to watch it come over the waterfall. It was cool to see it go from normal, crystal clear blue water, to brown water and double in width.
12. After the water was brown, it turned red for a couple days (but we still washed our dishes in it!)
13. This is my Aunt Netta at the top of the waterfall . She's literally on the edge of where the water drops 100 feet!
14. (The end!) And then the end of the trip finally came and my mom got us helicopter rides out! (It took a quick 4 minutes instead of a 12 mile hike!) And it was so cool to see the Grand Canyon from up high!

6. The next fall we saw was Mooney Falls. It started off as just a nice little walk there. And then there was the sign of warning.... "Descend at your own risk!"

7. We went through this cave tunnel thing, and then had to go straight down the cliff wall, using this chain (not even a rope) to support ourselves on as we found footholds and steps on the way down and up.

8. It felt like an accomplishment when we finally got to this amazing falls! This fall was a lot of fun. 9. There was a bunch of cliff jumping spots and rope swings that we played on!

1. We hike long enough (7 hours) that the sun beat us to the campsite!
2. The first waterfall (Havasui Falls) we see, right before we got to the campsight....

3. Everybody was so tired from not sleeping in 36 hours that they crashed on the picnic tables and Trev and I went and scouted out a camp-spot for us. 4. My mom got us these awsome hammocks! They were great for hanging out in!

5. The spot we picked was across the river, so we had to haul our stuff across (it's like I'm in Ghana all over again!) Or at a spot up river they had 3 picnic tables that you could jump across.

I'm really jealous. My friend goes there every year, and I never get to go. Maybe we should plan a 2004-2007 5th ward reunion at Havasui Pai falls in a few years?

You are too sweet! I really wish we were going to be around sooner so we could get together and the boys could play!
