So it's been a busy month of being sick, with lots of doctor's appointments. Our first was a tube consultation, the next day Cameron got sick, and the following day we were at Instacare for 3 hours. They both got strep cultures, and Cameron got chest x-rays, RSV tested, and a breathing treatment (which he hated so much I had to hold him down... my leg around his legs, and restraining his arms. All the while he was kicking and crying and screeming... for a half hour). In the end they told me he had wheezing, and needed a steriod and breathing treatments every 4 hours (the wrestling match, over and over, awsome!) at home. So we had our sick days, (Owen not as sick, but had a cold as well... and of course Trev got it too) for over a week.
We had picnic lunches in the living room (it actually worked surprisingly well to get them to eat when they hadn't been).
We made a big bed and watched movies (which worked surprisingly not well, they only stayed still for about 2 minutes).
So then, because sick kids can't just hold still, we got on our hats and gloves and got our bikes out from the cold cold balcony.
And every four hours we did the "fish to get a nummies" (aka a breathing treatment to get a treat). He didn't kick and scream... as much.

And then 4 days after they started feeling better, they both got tubes in their ears. (I wish I would have brought a camera to take pictures of them in their cute little yellow hospital robe and booties. They did really good though.
Cameron went first (he wasn't excited he had to put another "fish" on his face ((to get the gasses to get him to sleep))) The anestesiologist said that it was quite the wrestling match, but that he always wins. We hung out with Owen, throwing a blown up glove around, until they were ready for him. Owen was starving (they couldn't eat anything all morning), and the anestesiologist said they'd go get some food, so he very willingly jumped in his arms. A very short 5 minutes later we hear Cameron coming our way. He had a hard time coming out of the sleeping medicine. He had his eyes closed but was screaming and thrashing all over. I got a few punches to the jaw, but, what felt like an hour (was probably 20 minutes) he came too enough to sit with me and have a sucker. When Owen got out (while Cameron was still having a rough go.... thank goodness my mom was there for extra hands) he just sat on Trev's lap and asked for food. He had cheerios and an orange popcycle. He wanted to eat them so bad, but fell asleep between bites. His popcycle drooping. I kept having to remind Trev that he didn't have the strength to hold his popcycle on his own.
The doctor said that Cameron's ears were one of the worst he's ever seen. (I can't imagine how many he's done, too). He's had a lot of drainage (which is good), but overall is acting great.
Luckily, we have lots of angels on earth. My mom took the day off and was there to help every step of the way. From holding a puking bag for Cam (just in case) to going and buying Dora popcycles (which they each ate 3 of when we got home). As well as our wonderful angel friends who left us a note of good luck and a gift card to get some deliverable pizza (which we were so grateful to use after such a long day).
On the up end, we are doing better! It's just been a couple days since the tubes, but they (mostly) slept through the night last night and Cam hasn't needed a breathing treatment in almost a week, and are being our normal little buggers, bouncing off the walls, causing trouble, and making us laugh!
And then by about 4 o'clock we were all ready for bed, so we took a really long bubble bath (with lots of toys).

Wow, I'm glad that's all over with! I bet you are too. Whew! I'm glad your mom could come and help you guys out. Mom's help is wonderful.
Good luck with the craziness! With all that experience you could become a nurse
oh man! It sounds like you guys have been having a rough few weeks but hopefully the worst is behind you! Good luck!
Oh man! That just does not sound fun! I'm glad to hear that things are better now! Hopefully it will continue to be better now that they've got the tubes in!
Ok, so now I feel like I have NOTHING to complain about! Ha. This just makes me a little less anxious to have her here just yet. :) Glad your boys are doing better. I liked the picnic in the living room idea because it sounds so much like what my mom used to do with us when we were kids. The problem is, that back then we didn't realize it was a plot to get us to do something like eat or go to sleep, haha.
Your boys are so adorable...love the picnic idea! Im sorry you guys were sick for a while, but I am so glad that they got their tubs put in. My nephews had to have tubs too and it helped them so much! I love your descriptions on everything that you write about because I can picture it completely. Awwww kids are so much work but also sooooo worth it! Its amazing how much you can love the little rascals! If you guys need anything let me know! Take Care!
