So Trev had the weekend off and we started thinking we're overdue for a vacation. Then he got a "promotion" and is going to be a manager at Iggy's starting August 1st and will be super busy... so we "hit the road"!
On Saturday night I was way ready for us all to shower... between all the dirt at the campground, and spit up and poop, and sunscreen, etc, etc. So we went to the campsite with showers. We haven't ever put the boys in the shower, only the bath, so we weren't sure what to expect. Cameron was being grumpy and Owen was asleep, so I said I'd take Cameron. I had packed it all perfect so we both had our own soap and soap for them and wash cloths and towels and everything. We both take a boy, in carseat, into the shower room. It's a little shower and then a couple feet spot to get dressed in. I got Cameron down to his diaper and he was happy so I decided I'd shower first while he was good and then I'd wash him. He loved the shower. We were singing and laughing (despite all of the other loud women in there). I wanted to stay for a while, but new we still had to get back to camp to make dinner before it got too dark. So I got dressed and went back out. Trev was walking out at the same time. He looked like a train had hit him. Owen was smiling and happy in the car seat. "What happened?" He told me, "Owen hated the shower, he was screeming bloody murder. All the guys were yelling, asking why there was a baby crying. So I just set him in his carseat naked so I could rinse off and be done. Then I started smelling something and realized he had peed all over the car seat. I spilled all of the brand new bottle of baby soap, and that razor tore up my face." I then noticed all the cuts on his face and how badly Owen smelled (I think he must have been dehydrated cause it really smelled like cat pee)
So we decided we didn't have the energy to make the dinner we had plannned so we went to the store next door and got easier food. I made Trevor walk away from the boys because Owen really did smell so bad! We drove back to camp with the windows down, and I promised I'd re-wash him (with lots of wipes!) and figure out what to do about the seat. (For the next day was our big driving day around yellowstone!) The only thing we had besides hand soap was dish soap so I covered it and tried to scrub. It just made a lot of bubbles. It was late and we gave up. But we were in bear country so we couldn't leave it out to dry and didn't want to put it in the car to make it smell like pee for our whole day. So Trev had the great idea to wrap it up in a trash bag. The next morning I ask him if I should rinse it off but we don't want it to be soaking all day. So we put a trash bag over the wet part and put it back on the car seat and head out.
Owen was being fussy and I couldn't figure out why until I realized that his hot body was sticking to the trash bag. So we covered it with a blanket.
Well, we finally got home and it ended up washing great in the machine!... but it sure does make for a memorable laugh!!!!
